Writing Down Words

I get questions from friends, acquaintances, and complete strangers about my views on writing books, being an author, and on getting books "out there".

Rather than dash off a quick email, Writing Down Words is my attempt to give a slightly more considered response to those questions in a collection of articles which reflect my personal perspective on writing and publishing, and on the process of getting from the blank page—through the interim stage of publication—to a widely read book.

This section is primarily intended for authors. If you’re not an author, please don’t feel excluded—you’re more than welcome to hang around and take a look, but you may find that a lot of what I discuss has no relevance to you. My prime focus is on writing books (because that’s what I do) and so you will find that this area is not about blogging or writing for newspapers/magazines.

These articles reflect my thoughts and my experiences: they not a set of rules to be followed in order to become a successful author. My only claim to authority is that book writing is what I do for a living—I don’t have a day job and write books on the side: books are my source of income. Please also be aware that over time my views change and my needs change, and as they do, the articles will be updated.

You can keep up-to-date with changes and new articles by clicking on the Subscribe button at the top-right of the page.
