How to Make a Noise: a Comprehensive Guide to Synthesizer Programming was written ten years ago and first made available as a free download in early 2005.
The download was accessed by inputting an email address—the download link would then be emailed to the reader. The free book was accompanied by a set of patches to illustrate the points covered in the book. The patches were available separately for a cost.
In 2007 the book was updated and expanded, and a print version was made available.
A few changes are being made today:
- The patches are now available for free—they are included as part of the download package with the book.
- The book can be downloaded directly from the Noise Sculpture website (there is no need for an email address or to wait for the download link to be sent).
- Permission is granted (under specific conditions) for readers to redistribute the book and patches package. Readers may (for example): email the book and patches, share the book and patches on a torrent, or make the book and patches available for download on a website.
The book and patches are available from: noisesculpture.com/comprehensive.
